Black-headed Gull (Larus ridibundus) (mature)

Black-headed Gull on the Sava River (March 28, 2010)

Biking along the Sava with my sons on Sunday, I noticed that there were some mature, black-headed gulls on the river. Over the winter, there were only immature gulls, which I blogged about here.  The black head is quite noticeable and the boys were excited to see one. Owen wants to spot a species new to science, but this is a good start. I would like to get the boys to be birders!

The name of the bird in Serbian is Obićni Galeb

Obicni Galeb (It translates as “common gull”)
