Cross Spider (Araneus diadematus)

The Common European Garden Spider

While cleaning our BBQ area I came across this interesting spider. The white markings form a cross, hence the name. I played with it a bit to get this photo and after doing some research, found out that it is harmless (good news). It is quite common here in Europe and it is now expanded its range in North America. They are quite small and I noticed they are excellent web spinners.

It is nice to stop and capture nature’s beauty. Digital cameras have been a wonder to viewing wildlife.
