Godart’s White

We saw many of these Ganyra phaloe (Godart’s Whitescongregating on the muddy access road at the Santa Cruz Botanical Garden. They are named after French entemologist, Jean Baptiste Godart. I need to find out more about these beautiful butterflies and why they congregate on the mud.
